My wife and I would go out regularly with our friends for dinner and then play bridge. It was always a fun night, we would eat, talk, play cards and laugh a lot. But everything changed after I got my bottom denture. I’d had an upper denture for a couple years and it worked ok but the lower one gave me trouble right from the start. I had difficulty chewing with it and it would take me forever to eat so when we went out I would have soup.
One night I could feel my denture slipping, and I kept biting down on it to make the denture glue stick better. But the glue was being dissolved by the hot soup, and I could feel it. A few moments later, IT HAPPENED. I was laughing at a funny story, and my denture fell out of my mouth, and plopped right into the soup! I was horrified, embarrassed, and really just felt sick inside.
While everyone else at the table was pretending not to notice, I desperately worked to fish my denture out of that bowl, and get it back into my mouth, without dripping soup all over my clothes. That moment still makes me cringe when I think about it. Reliving it, even in my memories, is so embarrassing. After that awful night, I started making excuses to not go out with my wife and see our friends.
But then one day, my wife heard about a system for a Snap On Denture and my life changed...
